City officers sign evaluation pacts

Nairobi County Executive Committee members have signed performance contracts to gauge their work for the next nine months.

The contracts outlined the expected performance for the sectors under each member.

They are expected to communicate the expectation to their junior officers who will also sign contracts.

“This will help us to keep scores; to determine to what extent the inhabitants of Nairobi are satisfied with our services; to what extent the cost of the services they pay is justified,” said Governor Evans Kidero presiding over the signing.

Performance will be measured on a quarterly basis and at the end of the year there will be a reward and sanction scheme instituted for the county officers.

The rewards and sanctions are however unspecified and are said to be “under development”.

Dr Kidero said that the sectors will be properly financed to achieve the set targets. The county government has been facing revenue challenges but the governor said that they would “cut their suits according to the size of their cloth.”
