City judge refuses to suspend Sonko’s CBD ban
A Nairobi High Court Judge has refused to suspend a directive by the Nairobi county government that prohibits Public Service Vehicles from accessing the city centre.
Justice Pauline Nyamweya instead directed 21 matatu saccos to serve Nairobi county government, the National Transport Safety Authority (NTSA) and the National Police Service with the suit papers for hearing on December 6, 2018.
The matatu saccos have sued the Nairobi county government over the directive on matatus.
They claim that the ban from Central Business District has been effected without adequate notice, ignored public participation and several courts orders that protects several operators from being hounded out of CBD.
