A policeman attached to Jogoo Road Police Station on Wednesday blamed his ex-wife for losing his official firearm.

The contable claims he had placed the pistol in his suitcase in his house before it went missing on Tuesday. It was loaded with 15 bullets.

According to a police report, the constable was arrested when he went to report the matter to his seniors.

He narrated to his seniors how he had stepped out of the house but on returning, found the gun missing.

He said he suspects his former wife of taking the firearm. Efforts to trace her are ongoing.

Police said they are yet to find the weapon and that they were pursuing various leads.

There has been an increase of incidents of police officers leasing their firearms to thugs to commit crime.

RANSOM DEMAND

Meanwhile, a Kenya Defence Forces soldier was on Tuesday arrested with his two accomplices in a botched-up ransom demand after kidnapping a boy in Lang’ata.

The three had held the boy hostage and were demanding Sh5 million ransom to release him.

According to a police report, the boy’s parents reported the matter and police tracked the suspects to a house where they were arrested on Tuesday night.

Some of the suspects were drunk during the arrest.

The boy was reunited with his parents as police continue with investigation to establish whether more people were involved in the kidnapping.
