Bus rams into tree as Valley Road turns into a black spot – PHOTOS

A KBS bus crashed into a tree on Valley Road on Tuesday morning leaving in its wake several commuters injured and a major traffic snarl-up.

Pictures circulating online captured the aftermath of the accident that left the bus with a shattered windscreen. Passengers were rushed to hospital with no casualty reported yet.

The KBS bus was heading downhill towards the city centre and it is not yet clear what prompted the driver to swerve off the road.

Valley Road has lately turned into a black spot, especially the downhill stretch from Christ in The Answer Ministries (Citam) Church to the roundabout near Integrity Centre.

Earlier this month another KBS bus was involved in an accident along Haile Selassie Avenue killing one person and injuring several.

In a separate incident, a 14-seater Matatu has rammed into an electricity pole at Makaburini area along Uhuru Highway.

Three people who got injured were rushed to hospital.

Kenyans on Twitter had this to say about the Tuesday accident on Valley Road.

@MosesMahianyu tweeted; “It’s high time Valley Road was redesigned or few adjustment done, otherwise we are courting a disaster!”

@TimMusumba said; “How was the driver positioning the steering wheel? This appears to be at the bus stop just after the fly over along valley road!”

@Nandwal commented; “Praying for injured in accident on Valley Road. KBS SACCO driver lost direction and hit a tree. Thank God nobody died. Injured rushed in hospital.”

@NickleonardJuma said; “”Valley Road” is a classic example of “drivers overworking themselves” the whole day and part of the night without rest….KBS should employ more drivers to work in shifts to avoid recurrences as this.”

@mwania_josphat wrote; “Valley Road should have several bumps.”

@WahuWaweru said; “”Valley Road” that driver deserves a medal. Imagine driving a loaded bus down that road without brakes? If he didn’t ram the tree, he would have crushed into flowing traffic and landed on a ditch opposite Panafric hotel.”

@ItsGitau said; “Someone driving this bus along valley Road must be high on something.”

@Sirpelly said; “I use valley road every day that bus was just ahead of us this morning, it overtook us at the DoD round about, kindly would you make an appeal to ntsa to put bumps on that stretch of valley road, from the DoD roundabout to the junction at integrity centre, it’s a killer road.”
