Burglars break into Raila’s brother’s home, steal 1,000 chicken

Burglars on Wednesday broke into East African Legislative Assembly lawmaker Oburu Odinga’s home in Bondo and stole more than a 1,000 chicken at his poultry yard.

Dr Oburu, who is the elder brother of Nasa leader Raila Odinga, confirmed the incident, blaming it on the deteriorating security situation in the area.

“The security situation in Bondo town has soared to high levels. The thugs raided my home and made away with all the chickens in my farm,” he told The Star newspaper.

“They also raided the home of the nominated member of the Siaya County Assembly Tabu Oswere and also stole her chicken stock, including other valuables. The other day thugs butchered an innocent man – my own farm attendant – and dumped his body at a nearby farm,” the paper further quoted him.

He also explained how a young man was killed in an estate in Bondo town in the full glare of his family members and called for an overhaul of the security system in the sub-county.
