British High Commission, upmarket mall to remain closed after terror attack

Atleast one foreign mission and an upmarket mall in Nairobi have announced that they will remain closed to the public until further notice in the wake of the Dusit2 Hotel attack.

The United Kingdom issued a travel advisory and cautioned its citizens and advised them to be vigilant.

“You should remain vigilant and follow the advice and instructions of local authorities. The British High Commission Nairobi will be closed for routine business on Wednesday 16 January while we respond to the incident and support British Nationals affected,” read the statement.

SHUT DOWN

At the same time Village Market on Tuesday evening shut down its operations following an attack at the 14 Riverside Drive, Nairobi.

The upmarket shopping and recreational complex said it took the step as a safety precaution.

“Please note, Village Market is temporarily closed as a security precaution; a standard protocol. We pray for the safety of all those affected by the situation at 14 Riverside and for the first responders and security services on site,” the management said.
