Boniface Mwangi desperate to get back his missing motorbike

Activist Boniface Mwangi is mad that his “girl” has been missing for a month. His 1000cc motorcycle, which he often calls his girlfriend, has not been with him since.

He is now a furious man ready to press charges against a mechanic who has “disappeared” with it.

On Saturday, he tweeted that the mechanic nicknamed Omosh was nowhere to be seen.

“Spot the bike, halla,” pleaded the former photojournalist known for organising grand demonstrations.

In a phone interview with Nairobi News, Mr Mwangi said the mechanic took the bike for repair but has been giving excuses for not returning it.

“He picked it from my office last month to repair it as it had developed some problems. But since then, he has been giving lame explanations on its whereabouts,” he said, adding that Omosh has been his regular mechanic.

On the same day he posted the tweet, he reported the matter at the Lang’ata police station.

“The officer investigating the matter called me and said he knew the mechanic and that he had told him to take the bike to the station on Sunday,” said Mr Mwangi.

The 32-year-old will be visiting the station at 2pm on Sunday with the hope that he will reunite with his treasured possession.

BONNY’S ‘GIRLFRIEND’

“I miss her,” he said, though he refused to divulge which name he has given her.

“A bike is like a girlfriend: nobody should mess with it. Like a wife, you feel uneasy to share it.”

Mr Mwangi said two other bikers have previously lodged complaints with the police over the same mechanic.

He said he is ready to forgive the errant technician if he returns the bike intact.

“My fear is that he may have harvested some parts. This is the same man who I gave Sh15,000 in May to buy spare parts but he never did so,” he said.

In May, the firebrand announced that he was selling the machine, which he bought second-hand in 2013, for Sh680,000. The bike had cost him Sh800,000, or “two Toyota Vitz cars” as he told Nairobi News.

“I have been around her type for 10 years and I can testify she is the best. However, our love has been one sided. She has always been there when I want her but I’m rarely there for her. She has dropped me once but I forgave her,” he wrote on the Facebook post.

“I love her so much and because she isn’t getting it as much as she likes I have to let her go. My family will miss her too,” he stated.

It appears he had not got a buyer before Omosh got hold of the bike and literally took him for a ride.
