Bees sting 70 year-old woman to death as crowd watches
A swarm of bees on Wednesday evening stung a 70 year-old woman to death in Matangwe village, Migwena sub-location in Bondo.
Mrs Jane Anyango Ojwang’ is said to have been attacked by the bees while on her way to the nearby Matangwe trading center.
According to Mr Juma Abuko, chairman of Bondo Community policing committee, the elderly woman struggled for her life as members of the public watched.
“The granny fell by the roadside to escape a swerving vehicle that almost hit her as the driver escaped the from the bees,” said Mr Abuko.
The chairman added that members of the public went to the place where she was lying beside the road in an attempt to take her to the hospital after the bees had flown away, only to find her already dead.
Villagers alerted the police who came to the scene and picked the body to Bondo sub-county hospital mortuary to await post-mortem.
