Babu Owino in court, charged with uttering abusive words against Uhuru

Embakasi East MP Paul Ongili, popularly known as Babu Owino, has been charged with two counts of subversion and uttering abusive words against President Uhuru Kenyatta.

The charge sheet stated that on September 24, at a rally in Kawangware, he uttered words calculated to excite disaffection against the presidency.

He also faces an alternative charges of incitement to violence and uttering words calculated to lead to disobedience of lawful authority.

His lawyers Siaya Senator James Orengo and Rarieda MP Otiende Amolo applied for the MP to be released on bond.

Prosecution however opposed the application saying it had compelling reasons to deny the accused bond.
