Atheists offer top KCSE candidate 100k on condition she becomes their member
Kenya’s the top candidate in this year’s Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examinations, Juliet Otieno, has been surprised with a handsome cash reward from the unlikeliest source.
The Atheists in Kenya Society have offered the former student of Pangani Girls School a cool Sh100,000.
However, the catch to this generous reward is that the straight As student has to join the shadowy society before January 15, 2019.
In a press statement, signed by the society’s president, Harrison Mumia, the Atheists on Saturday congratulated the student for her exemplary performance, saying it is their wish that she becomes a role model and brand ambassador for the society.
“Our leadership has decided to offer Juliet Sh 100,000 in recognition of her exemplary performance on one condition: She must register and becomes a member of our society before 15th of January, 2019. We request her to register by visiting our website www.atheistsinkenya.org/membership,” the statement read in part.
The society further promised to work with the student in spearheading meaningful reforms in the educations system, in particular the push for religious education reforms in the curriculum.
Miss Otieno Irine Juliet emerged the best candidate with a performance index of 87.644 while Kaluna James of Maseno School came second with a performance index of 87.394.
