Activist Boniface Mwangi sues IG over ban on State House march

Human rights activist Boniface Mwangi has moved to court to protest being denied the right to demonstrate during the United Nation’s International Anti-Corruption Day on Wednesday.

He has sued the Inspector General of police, the Kilimani police Commanding Officer and the Attorney General.

He claims he went to the Kilimani police station with a notice of the intended march to State House gate A but his request was rejected.

He says he wanted to present a petition to President Uhuru Kenyatta  since he has shown political will to end corruption.

He wants the sued parties compelled to allow him go ahead with the planned demonstration with public participation and accorded security.

In the petition to the head of state, he wants the President Kenyatta to declare corruption as a national disaster, all state as well as senior public officers to declare their wealth and that a website should be created where the public can view the declarations.
