Nairobi criminal gang busted with more 200 stolen laptops in city residential house

Police officers in Nairobi have recovered 254 laptops that are believed to have been stolen from a house in Kilimani area, Nairobi.

Three suspects, who are currently in police custody, were arrested in connection to the recovery.

The more than 200 laptops were recovered from a house in Nyayo Embakasi by officers from Special Crimes Prevention Unit who were led to the house by a suspect on Wednesday night.

“Detectives from the DCI yesterday recovered 254 HP Laptops from within Embakasi area, which are part of the 795 Laptops obtained falsely from a businessman within Nairobi,” DCI tweeted.

The arrests and recovery of the stolen laptops come just two weeks after a city businessman lost nearly Sh89 million in a scheme involving fake tender deals.

Mr Idris Ahmed Buro parted with millions of shillings after a cartel that allegedly operates within government offices used fake letters and Local Purchase Order to award him tenders.

Four suspects have been since been arrested and charged in court in relation to the fraud.
