New clues unearthed on the missing body of Garissa University student
A family’s agonizing search for the body of their daughter who was killed during the Garissa University terrorist attack early this year could be over soon.
This is after DNA results showed that another body still laying at Chiromo Mortuary belongs to Philomena Kasyoka whose family buried a different body.
The body that Philomena’s family buried is believed to be that of Risper Kasyoka whose family has been looking for her body since the April 2 attack.
EXHUMATION
Risper’s father, Isaac Mutisya said he had received a call from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations informing him of the scheduled exhumation.
“The new development has rekindled my hopes of finding the body of my daughter. I believe the family of Philomena buried Risper by mistake,” Mr Mutisya said.
After the exhumation of Risper’s presumed body, another DNA analysis will be done on it to confirm if the body indeed belongs to her.
On September 11, a planned exhumation failed after the family of Philomena demanded to be given the body of their daughter first, claiming that it is a taboo to leave the grave open and unoccupied.
