Nairobi to miss out on annual year-ending Groove Party
The annual gospel bash, Groove Party, which takes place every end of the year in Nairobi is likely to be held venues away from the capital city.
Unconfirmed reports have it that this year’s edition of the Groove Party, which is sponsored by Safaricom, could be held at two other locations.
According to sources, the annual party which has in recent years been gospel music fans’ way of ushering in the New Year might be held at Thika and Machakos towns.
Last year, the event featured over 50 performers, including international artistes, on three stages at Safaricom Stadium in Kasarani.
Revelers were treated to performances by DJ Krowbar, DJ Sadic and the Gifted DJs, alongside 2015 Groove Award winners Pitson, Evelyn Wanjiru, Eunice Njeri and Loise Kim.
Other performers of the day were renowned musicians Mercy Masika, Sarah K, Gloria Muliro, Ben Githae, Ruth Matete and Amos & Josh.
The final list of who will perform in this year’s event is yet to be unveiled but each town is expected to host its own star-studded line-up of Kenya’s hottest gospel artistes and DJs.
It has also been whispered that DJ Mo and DJ Sadic have been selected as the official ‘Crowd Pullers’ for the 2 Groove Party events, dubbed ‘GP on The Move’ with each DJ using his influence to fill up their respective New Year’s Eve Groove Party roster with the top Gospel entertainers and fans.
