Nairobi Police officer charged with robbery with violence

By KNA December 16th, 2014 1 min read

A police officer attached to Industrial Area Police Station was on Tuesday arraigned in a Nairobi court accused of robbery with violence.

Gilbert Chemosi and George Kamau were arraigned before Milimani Chief Magistrate, Hannah Ndung’u, for robbing Chrispine Otieno early this year.

The two were accused of bundling the complainant into a car, beating him up and robbing him of his valuables.

In his defense, Mr Chemosi, the police officer, said he was on duty guarding a bank on the material day and did not at any time leave his assigned duties.

He denied the charges citing failure to identify the culprit appropriately by the prosecution, saying it was a case of mistaken identity.

The case was adjourned to January 2015 when the judgment will be delivered.
