Nairobi MCA survives road accident that claims four lives

Kariakor-Ziwani Member of County Assembly (MCA), Millicent Wambui, narrowly escaped death after being involved in a grisly road accident that left four people dead on Sunday in Gilgil.

The Minority Leader and first time MCA was airlifted for specialized treatment to Nairobi in critical condition and is currently in hospital receiving treatment.

According to police report, all the other occupants in the vehicle in which the MCA was travelling in died instantly.

INJURED

“Ms Wambui is the only one who survived with numerous fractures, she’s had to be rushed to St Mary’s in Gilgil but they have no facilities,” a source at the scene said.

The accident happened after two vehicles collided head on as one of the two drivers attempted to avoid hitting an on coming vehicle.

Among those who died was one of the drivers while two passengers – who have been identified as Isaac Nderitu, 30, and Millicent Wambui, 35 – sustained injuries.

The injured were rushed to St Mary’s Hospital in Gilgil while the bodies of the deceased were moved to Gilgil Sub County Hospital mortuary.

FOUND DEAD

In Ruiru, a security guard was found dead behind a dispensary where he used to work. The 52-year-old man had failed to report to his station in the morning prompting a nurse at the facility to dispatch another security guard to an adjacent secondary school to investigate.

The body of the deceased, which was found lying in a pool of blood, also had deep cuts on the head.

Police suspect that the security guard was killed after the dispensary was broken into. Three suspects have since been arrested in connection with the incident.
