Dr Robert Ayisi is the new Nairobi County Secretary.

His appointment was announced Monday moving him from his former position as the chief officer of health.

Dr Ayisi will replace Lillian Ndegwa who was suspended and charged in April last year with defrauding the county Sh17.9million.

Ms Ndegwa with two other employees; Regina Chepkemoi and Nancy Waithera were accused of stealing the money from the county’s imprests account held at Co-operative Bank’s City Hall Branch.

Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission officers arrested the three on April 1, 2015 over the economic crime allegedly committed between November 1, 2013 and December 3, 2014.

Ms Ndegwa, Ms Chepkemoi and Ms Waithera denied the charge before Milimani Senior Principal Magistrate Peter Ndegwa and were granted Sh2 million bail each.

Governor Evans Kidero on April 13, 2015 during a county executive meeting said he had replaced the officers awaiting the outcome of the cases.

Mr Gregory Mwakanogo, the county finance secretary, was appointed to be the acting county secretary.
