Mystery of Sh4.8 million withdrawal by Angela Angwenyi’s former boss

A former boss of radio presenter Angela Angwenyi withdrew Sh4.8 million from her company Out of the Box Solutions Ltd.

Manwa Magoma, who was the head of radio during Ms Angwenyi last stance in radio, withdrew the amount that was part of the Sh90 million paid to Ms Angwenyi in a Sh302 million contract by the Ministry of Devolution.

Mr Magoma’s transaction appeared in the bank statement in two separate days with his first withdrawal of Sh3million having been done on August 28, 2015, eleven days after the company was paid by the government.

His second withdrawal of Sh1.8million was done almost a month later, on September 29.

Mr Magoma also made several internal transfers amounting to Sh15.2million within the first three months after Sh90 million was deposited in the firm’s account.

PUBLICITY CAMPAIGN CONTRACT

The former radio presenter’s company had a contract to publicise Access to Government Procurement Opportunities (AGPO) tenders by women, youth and persons with disabilities.

The year-long publicity campaign contract was worth Sh302 million but Ms Angwenyi was paid Sh90 million as 30 per cent of the deal.

During her appearance before the Parliamentary Accounts Committee (PAC) on September 14, she said her firm had delivered 60 per cent of the task before it was stopped by the ministry in January.

The committee chairman Nicholas Gumbo on Tuesday said the committee had asked Elgeyo-Marakwet Senator Kipchumba Murkomen to make written submissions to it with regards to payments received from Ms Angwenyi’s firm.

A firm in which the senator is a partner, Sing’oei, Murkomen and Sigei Advocates, received millions from the firm tasked to publisise AGPO tenders.
