Dismembered human body in bag leaves village in shock

Police in Embu are investigating the brutal murder of a woman, whose body was found stuffed in a bag and dumped by the roadside at Karurina village, Embu County.

The woman who appears to be in her mid 30’s had deep cuts in the neck and hands, and was wrapped in a gunny bag and well fitted in a suit case.

Residents who were passing by became suspicious when they encountered the bag which had remained unclaimed until around 8am and went to investigate.

On opening it, they were shocked to discover the mutilated human body.

“We went to investigate and I saw a leg pop out. It had been placed in two bags and then in another one. I left the scene immediately. The body was lying by the roadside about 200-metres from a primary school,” said Mr Ken Ndwiga Gichovi from Gichegeri village.

NO STRUGGLE

Embu West police boss Francis Sang said they suspect that the woman might have been killed elsewhere and dumped in the area since the wounds were still fresh and there was no evidence of blood at the scene.

“She might have been killed elsewhere and dumped there because the wounds were fresh and there were no signs of a struggle at the scene. We have started investigations,” he said.

Mr Sang appealed to residents who may have witnessed the killing or have information about a missing woman to report to the police.

Police took the body to Embu Level Five hospital mortuary for an autopsy.
