Mwendwa: Kenyan Premier League management is ‘a group of liars’
Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Nick Mwendwa has yet again put Sofapaka and Muhoroni Youth on notice following the two clubs last gasp promotion to the SportPesa Premier League last week, even as he lashed out at the Kenyan Premier League (KPL) management, describing them as “a group of liars”.
Muhoroni and Sofapaka were handed return tickets to the top flight league by the Sports Disputes Tribunal last week, despite having been relegated by FKF at the start of this year for failing to comply with the newly enacted club licensing rules.
Speaking on Saturday following his arrival from Addis Ababa, Mwendwa also reiterated the club licensing procedures put in place by FKF were still in force, and not meant to punish some clubs.

“Club Licensing is no vendetta. We want clubs to change for the better, comply and as much as we respect this ruling by the SDT, I am telling Sofapaka and Muhoroni that they have to do things properly, pay their players or else we will relegate them at the end of the season,” Mwendwa said.
While responding to a question as to if KPL will now be involved in the club licensing process, Mwendwa said: “They (KPL) are liars, we involved all the clubs while initiating the club licensing rules, from the seminars to our annual general meeting where 68 delegates (out of 78) passed that the rules be inforced.”
Mwendwa also added that Kenya stands to benefit more from Ahmad Ahamd’s recent election as Caf President, while confirming that Kenya will play a full strength Uganda and DR Congo in two high profile friendly matches next week.
