Mututho warns unlicensed bars

Unlicensed bar owners risk being fined Sh10 million or jailed for five years, the National Agency for the Campaign against Drug Abuse has warned.

Its chairman John Muthutho said that  the law will be in  full effect during the coming Christmas celebrations.

“Bar owners have a right to be licensed and buy pure beer which is less harmful for human consumption” he said.

He said he has particularly trained his eyes on owners who sell alcohol to the youth.

The anti-drugs chief has vowed to ensure that there are no drinking dens selling illicit brews in the city during the coming festivities.

“A research that listed the 20 most dangerous drugs, shows that alcohol is more harmful than cocaine, miraa and heroine,” he said during an interview with NairobiNews.
