Mutahi Ngunyi given a 14-day ultimatum to refund NYS cash

National Youth Council on Sunday issued a 14-day ultimatum to those named over the theft of funds at the National Youth Service.

It wants those named over the scandal to refund all the misappropriated funds within the ultimatum period or face court action.

The group also gave political pundit Mutahi Ngunyi a similar ultimatum for the refund of sh11.8 million paid to his firm The Consulting House without an invoice.

Mr Ngunyi had two weeks ago admitted that his firm was paid the whopping amount by NYS without having sent an invoice.

In a letter to Devolution Secretary Sicily Kariuki, Mr Ngunyi said his firm was ready to refund the government the Sh11,875,000 “malicious payment” within 15 days.

The youth council now wants Mr Ngunyi to also make public receipts and invoices for all the monies he received from NYS.

NYC chairman Engineer Dishon Atemo said they will move to court at the end of the ultimatum as well as mobilise youths for a countrywide demonstration.
