Munya walks out on Ruto at Jubilee function

Meru Governor Peter Munya on Saturday stormed out of an event at Nkubu in Meru County where Deputy President William Ruto was the chief guest.

Munya, who is also the Council of Governors Chairman, found himself in an awkward position after several Jubilee MPs, led by Majority Leader Aden Duale, asked those not interested in joining the yet to be launched Jubilee Party to make public their stand on the matter.

But a defiant Munya, who spoke before Meru Senator Kiraitu Murungi was invited to speak, declared that he will not join the new party.

“I have the right to join any political party I want. No one will coerce me in joining a particular party. Let it be known that in 2017 I will vie on another party and not JP,” said Munya before handing over his donation to Imenti South MP Kathuri Murungi and hurriedly leaving.

A section of the public that attended the fundraiser at the St Pius X Seminary in Nkubu jeered as the governor left.
