MP and his wife rush to the police to record assault complaints after ‘battering each other’
Detectives are investigating an assault case involving Githunguri Member of Parliament Kago wa Lydia and his wife, after they both filed separate reports at the Kiambu Police Station accusing each other of assault.
Ms Emily Wanjiku filed a complaint (OB no. 05/27/09/18) claiming that her husband injured her after he attacked her using among other weapons, a hot iron box. She suffered serious wounds on the neck, back and limbs.
According to Ms Wanjiku, the incident happened on September 27, at around 11pm. The incident, which has attracted a lot of interest on social media, was allegedly occasioned by a domestic quarrel at their residence at Five Star Estate, which is in the outskirts of Kiambu town.
Ms Wanjiku told the police that the disagreement turned physical when Mr Kago, who she claimed had just arrived home, started raining kicks and blows on her before he reportedly took an iron box and burnt parts of her skin.

She was treated and discharged at the Kiambu Level Five Hospital.
But in a strange twist to the incident, the first-time MP has also filed two separate complaints (OB no. 45/27/09/18 and OB no. 50/27/10/18) at the same police station, accusing Ms Wanjiku, who is a medical practitioner, of assault.
Kiambu police boss Patrick Kiprop on Thursday confirmed that both the MP and his wife had filed reports at the station, adding that the matter was being investigated with a view to establishing the truth.
Area Directorate of Criminal Investigation boss Paul Wambugu said that depending on the findings of their investigations, they will decide whether to charge one of the complainants or both, saying they are treating both cases as criminal. The MP said he would not comment on the matter later.
