More problems at AFC Leopards den as coach Chippo quits

August 13th, 2015 1 min read

AFC Leopards’ troubles were compounded on Thursday afternoon after assistant coach Yusuf Chippo quit the cash-strapped club.

Chippo has been holding forte after the head coach Zdravko Logarusic went missing from the former league winners technical bench.

His resignation comes hours after a hard-fighting Ingwe were edged out 0-1 by Ulinzi Stars in a hotly contested Premier League match played at Nyayo National Stadium on Wednesday evening.

“Today, I have tendered my resignation with the club. It has been tough working under all those circumstances at the club and I think we have tried our best. I have sat down and thought about everything and I think I have made the right decision,” Chippo told a local football website.

AFC Leopards’ chairman Dr Walter Onyino confirmed that the former Ulinzi tactician had indeed left the 12 times league winners.

“I can confirm that Yusuf Chippo has indeed left the club,” he told Nairobi News.

His departure leaves the struggling club in the hands of former Sofapaka FC coach Ezekiel Akwana and club loyalist Francis Xavier as team manager.

The club is experiencing tough economic times at the moment and it is unlikely to attract big name to replace the duo.
