Moment female passenger roughed up tout over Sh20 change – VIDEO

If you live in Nairobi and use public service vehicles, you must have had a nasty experience where the matatu crews adjust the fares upwards once the vehicle is in motion.

In most cases, depending the route, the matatu crews usually have their way as passengers pay up, albeit with disgruntlement.

One male tout, though, was not very lucky after a woman, believed to be from an estate in Nairobi’s Eastlands, engaged him in a fist fight over Sh20 change.

A two-minute long video posted on Facebook shows the moment the woman roughed up the tout forcing him to return her Sh20.

The undated video opens with the tout grandstanding that the bus fare was Sh100, and not Sh80 as insisted by the woman.

Things then get a little heated up as the woman grabs him by the collar, swearing that he must return her Sh20. Luckily for her, other passengers join in the argument telling the tout that the bus fare had been set at Sh80 and not Sh100.

Overpowered, the man pleads with the woman to let go to enable him return her change. Once he returns the Sh20, the tout appears to hit the woman who retaliates with kicks and blows.

Other passengers can be heard warning the man not to “hit a woman” as the video concludes.

People who commented on the video, first shared on Facebook by journalist Robin Njogu, appeared to take the woman’s side.

Christine Kagendo Esipisu said: “That’s a great woman. Many makangas are full of it.”

Achieng J Abondo said, “The strength in the mama….am scared of her,” while James Mburu wrote: “when people are pushed to the wall, you never know what they are capable of doing. The other day it was a githurai route when angry passenger turned their frustration on the driver and the taut for playing loud music. people and power. sanity must be in our midst at all times.”
