Varsity student wins Miss Tourism, Embu contest

A fourth year Project Management student at the University of Nairobi has been crowned the new Miss Tourism, Embu county, in a colourful ceremony held on Saturday night.

Miss Susan Njoki Magu, 22, trounced 19 other contestants to emerge the best at the function held at the Minni Inn hotel.

Lillian Wangui emerged second, with Jackline Murugi scooping the second runners up title.

Susan was rated as the friendliest contestant and also excelled in public speaking and catwalk in cultural and formal dresses.

The sassy beauty queen wore an elegant lace black evening gown designed by Fridah Ngugi of Frika designs in Embu.

Susan immediately set her focus on the national Miss Tourism to be held in Vihiga next month, saying she will use the platform to showcase Embu as a favourite travel destination.

“People are not aware of the many beautiful sites that we have in the county. The county has exciting tourist attractions which I will help market,” said Susan, who will be graduating later in the year.

Gospel artist Size 8 together with a host of Embu artists, such as Dynamics dancers, Reymi de Christian, Leftie, Dynamixx dancers, Marvelous and Sparks, entertained the lively crowd in the warm moonlit night.
