A picture of Police Constable Emma Brenda Wanjiru at her work station has endeared her to Kenyans who have been captivated by her youthful looks and taste of fashion.

Conversation on social media on the picture has centred on her ‘wasted beauty’, with many wondering why she is working in a profession long associated with hardiness and brutality.

Unknown to many though, the 26 year-old constable started off as a sales person for Procter and Gamble before she joined the police force.

“My father was a policeman so I used to admire the way he worked and I promised myself that one day I will become one and do better than he did,” she told Nairobi News during an interview.

The mother of one and first born in a family of two said; “I owe everything to my mother who raised us after our father left and being there for me after I got pregnant at 19 just after high school.”

Her beauty and instant fame on social media has not distracted her from her police work, and she would still slap handcuffs on admirers who cross the line. Besides, her karate skills and fitness level puts her in good shape against would-be bullies.

“When I’m working it’s time for work, but if its play time it’s time to play,” she said.

“I love to go to the gym, I like to practice my Karate and when I have time I cycle a lot with my daughter.”

With Valentine’s Day just days away, the curious question of whether she has any plans is aptly answered.

“I’m still single and not looking for now,” she quipped.
