Fresh details emerge of man’s death during Jubilee primaries
A man who was killed on Wednesday evening after being attacked by supporters of a rival candidate during the Jubilee Party primaries in Nairobi has been identified as George Ndege.
Mr Ndege was reportedly attacked by people who are said to be the supporters of current MCA for Pangani, Mr Peter Wahinya Njau.
The incident happened along Juja road as Mr Ndege was passing by the posters of Starehe Member of Parliament Maina Kamanda.
It was at this instant that a mob armed with pangas and who were on board a pick up attacked him.
The assailants jumped out of the vehicle and started chasing him, before stabbing on the chest and forehead. As he attempt to flee from his attackers, Mr Ndege was hit by a vehicle. He was rushed to Radiant Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Another male adult sustained injuries on the leg and was also rushed to the same hospital where he was treated and discharged.
Nairobi County Commander Japhet Koome said the altercation occurred when two youths were seen putting up posters of another aspirant along Juja Road near Pangani Girls High School.
Mr Koome condemned the attack saying it was unlawful for aspirants to put up posters when polls were being conducted.
“It was very wrong for the aspirant to have let his supporters continue campaigning when polls are being conducted. But at the same time, it is was also not right for the other supporters to have attacked them, because two wrongs do not make a right,” said Mr Koome.
