Man who hacked AY’s phone arrested in Dar
Tanzanian authorities have arrested a college student who is suspected to have hacked into Bongo musician AY’s phone early last week.
The suspect is said to have been using the rapper’s line to solicit money from the musician’s unsuspecting friends.
“I was in Nairobi when my phone was hacked,” said AY. “I had my Tigo network SIM card here in Nairobi, and it was off. However, the hacker had made it active in Dar es Salaam yet I was still in Nairobi.”
When he flew back to Tanzania last Tuesday, he reported the matter to the police who along with officials from Tigo – the service providers – launched a manhunt for the suspect.
On Saturday, They caught up with the hacker, Ahmed, a college student. According to AY, who exclusively spoke to Nairobi News after the arrest, the student said that he was trying to make quick money.
This is the second time AY has been a victim of hacking in less than a year. Mid last year, his Twitter account was also hacked by unknown people.
