Man killed by mob for stealing this Sh300 chicken – PHOTOS


A 20 year-old man was on Thursday lynched by members of the public after he was caught stealing a farmer’s chicken in Sikinwa village, Trans Nzoia County.

Samuel Kiptoo Alias ‘Generali’ was killed by an irate mob after the owner of the chicken raised an alarm.

“It was around 4pm I was in my house when I heard something outside. I took it as nothing but I heard the chicken making noise. That is when I rushed to check only to find a young man holding one of my chickens,” said David Ngeiywa, a 40 year-old farmer.

Mr Ngeiywa raised an alarm as the man tried to escape with the chicken, but members of the public who responded to the distress call caught up with him and subjected him to a beating occasioning him serious injuries.

RESPONDED IMMEDIATELY

The Trans Nzoia West police boss Jackson Mwenga, said that the officers responded immediately after receiving a report from a member of the public.

“The officers rushed to the scene and managed to rescue the suspect from the mob. He was rushed to the hospital for treatment but unfortunately he passed on while undergoing treatment,” said Mr Mwenga.

According to residents, the deceased a member of a gang that has been terrorizing the village in recent days.

The chicken that worth Sh300 was recovered and the body of the deceased moved to Mt. Elgon hospital mortuary.

Mr Mwenga warned locals against killing suspects and said anyone found culpable will face the full force of the law.
