March 1st, 2014 1 min read

A man was charged with defiling his nine-year-old relative before a Makadara court on Thursday.  The court heard that Peter Wachira attacked and assaulted his wife Sarah who fled their matrimonial home and left the child behind.

The accused allegedly took advantage of his wife’s absence to commit the beastly act.

Prosecutor SP Oyoo said the teachers of the minor noticed she had difficulties in walking and sitting. After prodding her, she opened up and told them what Wachira had done.

Mr Oyoo said the teachers traced the place the girl’s mother was hiding and informed her of the daughter’s predicament.

The matter was reported to police and investigations were launched, leading to Wachira’s arrest on Monday.

He denied all the charges before acting Senior Principal Magistrate Victor Wakumile.

The magistrate released Wachira on Sh200, 000 bond. The case will be mentioned on March 13, while the hearing was set for June 11. The court released him on Sh200, 000 and alternative Sh1 million bond.
