Man in court for defiling neighbour’s teenage daughter

A 68-year-old man was on Monday charged before a Nakuru court for defiling his neighbour’s teenage daughter.

Appearing before Principal Magistrate, Joe Omido, Mr Elijah Mburu Waweru was charged with committing the offence on August 31.

The incident happened in his house at Mukungugu Village in Njoro within Nakuru County.

According to the prosecution, Mr Waweru took advantage of the 14-year-old girl who had taken refuge in his home after she lost the money she had been sent with to the market by her mother.

The court heard that the minor, after losing the money, decided to spend the night in the old man’s house to avoid her mother’s wrath.

CAUGHT IN THE ACT

The court was told that the accused offered the minor dinner and afterwards defiled her the whole night in his house.

The following morning, Mr Waweru was caught in the act by his wife after she had been informed by the couple’s son.

The wife rushed to tell the girl’s mother who ran to the house screaming, forcing the suspect to flee.

Mr Waweru was arrested in the evening by residents who frogmarched him to Mau Narok police station.

He, however, denied the charges read to him and was released on Sh100,000 bond.

The case will be mentioned August 6.
