Malawian envoy leaves Kenya with mystery surrounding son’s murder unresolved

Malawi ambassador to Kenya Marcel Chirwa on Friday bid farewell to President Uhuru Kenyatta after finishing his term and will be heading back to his country.

The high commissioner will be leaving the country as a bereaved father after the unresolved murder of his 25-year-old son which happened in October 2014.

Dennis Chirwa, a third year communication student at St. Paul’s University, was fatally stubbed near the institution’s Limuru campus after a night out with friends.

He was also robbed of his mobile phone and other personal effects. The institution has since failed to comment on the murder which the police are still investigating.

The friends with whom he was on that night have already recorded statements.

The high commissioner’s wife Tamala Chirwa has been serving as the Diplomatic Spouses Association Chairperson.
