Magufuli addresses claims of helping Nasa rig August election

Tanzania government has denied claims by some Jubilee MPs that it is colluding with NASA to rig the August general election.

The government spokesman termed the link a “mistake beyond reality”.

Last week, a section of Jubilee MPs accused Tanzania President John Pombe Magufuli of conspiring with the National Super Alliance (Nasa) presidential candidate Raila Odinga to rig the upcoming election.

Speaking during a caravan dubbed ‘Mbele Iko Sawa’ to drum support for Jubilee re-election in Tharaka-Nithi County, MPs, Moses Kuria (Gatundu), Muthomi Njuki (Chuka/Igambang’ombe) Mburi Muiru (Tharaka) and Tharaka-Nithi women representative Beatrice Nkatha said President Magufuli should allow Kenyans to exercise their democratic rights without inteference.

Mr Kuria said Mr Magufuli was helping Nasa to set a parallel tallying centre to that of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to declare Mr Odinga a winner.

“President Magufuli should tell Kenyans what exactly is his role in NASA campaign,”said Mr Kuria.
