Lupita nominated for BET Awards

Actress Lupita Nyongo’s star is still rising following her latest nomination in the prestigious BET Awards.

The Kenyan actress has been nominated in the Best Actress category for her role in the movie 12 years a slave.

Lupita’s nomination comes on the heels of  an Oscar award she bagged in March that set her high on the global entertainment industry.

Other actresses nominated in the category are Kerry Washington (Scandal) Angela Bassett (Black Nativity), Gabrielle Union (Being Mary Jane) and Oprah Winfrey (The Butler).

Kerry Washington won last year’s award in the category.

Lupita’s movie 12 years a slave has also been nominated in the Best Movie category.

The BET awards will be held on June 29 at the Nokia theatre in Los Angeles and will be hosted by Chris Rock.

The awards were established in 2001 by the Black Entertainment Television network to celebrate African Americans and other minorities in music, acting, sports, and other fields of entertainment.
