Long wait for announcement of presidential winner continues

Kenyans will have to wait a little bit longer for the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) to announce the final results of the presidential elections.

Speaking during a press briefing at the Bomas of Kenya IEBC, CEO Ezra Chiloba told Kenyans to be patient as it is important to be accurate than to rush the process and end up with a mistake.

“I know there is a lot of anxiety people asking when we are going to complete this process for us we say there is no need to hurry, we need to be accurate,” he said.

Mr Chiloba says they have now received 288 forms 34B and the two that are missing had been returned to the Returning officers to clarify on some issues.

The chairman of IEBC Mr Wafula Chebukati is expected to address the country later on in the day.

The electoral body had earlier indicated of a possible announcement of the presidential results, however at 4pm the president elect was yet to be known.
