The young generation’s push to estbalish businesses besides their career, popularly known as side hustles, has led to tremendous growth in the informal sector.

But most often hitherto brilliant ideas are frustrated by inexperience and underestimation of the risks.

In an interview with Nairobi News, local entrepreneur Olive Gachara shared the biggest tip on what it takes to change the side hustles into mainstream businesses.

She is one of the investors in the hit show, KCB Lion’s Den, that runs on NTV. The reality tv show gives entrepreneurs an opportunity to pitch their business ideas to a panel of investors who then decide whether to invest or not.

She said: “What you see on tv is an edited version, a lot more due diligence goes on during and after the show. Our young people need to learn how to pitch to investors, many of them don’t know how to put an accurate valuation on their business.”
