They included Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero, Kisii Deputy Governor Joash Maangi, Football Kenya Federation (FKF) chairman Sam Nyamweya and Commission for the Implementation of the Constitution chairman Charles Nyachae.

Dr Kidero, who was the chief guest, waded into the on-going debate regarding the expansion of the current 16 team Kenyan Premier League, by claiming that he supported the introduction of additional clubs “upto 47 because we have as many counties in the country”.

Close to Sh4 million was realised from the function with Kidero, who was escorted to the event by close to 30 bouncers, and Nyamweya donating Sh 500,000 and Sh 1 million respectively.

Nyachae contributed Sh. 100,000 while Maangi added another Sh 150,000. Deputy President William Ruto and Nairobi Senator Mike Sonko each sent Sh 100,000.

Shabana were promoted to the Kenyan Premier League under controversial circumstances amid complaints from clubs in the second tier league of favoritism towards the Gusii based team by the competition administrators.
