Lilian Muli: I was drunk when I insulted a waitress

Citizen TV news anchor Lilian Muli now blames alcohol for her outburst in 2016 that was caught on camera as she hurled insults at a waitress at a city restaurant

The viral video of the news anchor having a public meltdown at a city restaurant raised eyebrows as the time on her emotional status.

In broad range interview with True Love magazine, Ms Muli talks about her divorce, her second pregnancy, finding love for a second time, the scandals that dogged her life and the lessons she learned along the way.

ABUSING ALCOHOL

In the interview, narrates how she started abusing alcohol to cope with her divorce and as a result surrounded herself with fake and shallow friends.

“I started drinking a lot when I left Josh’s Dad. I had moved from Karen, got a new life with Josh, but one day, after three years I realized that I was actually separated and trying to wear a face that everything was ok. All while still looking good on TV.”

On her insult to a waitress she said; “I had a public meltdown. I screamed at someone at a restaurant and a patron recorded the entire incident which later went on social media. Now if there is someone who gets affected by social media it would be me. Something like that really gets to me and grounds me to the point I can lock all my doors and really hibernate.”

She added that her friends kept away during her hard times, leaving her to fall on the shoulders of her mother and distant friend.

FRIENDSHIPS WERE PLASTIC

“It was during this time that I realized my friendships were plastic and basic, because apart from my mother and a very distant friend, nobody else called to ask, ‘How are you holding up? How are you feeling about this? What happened?’”

“Instead everyone passed judgement and kept away,” added Muli.

Lilian says that instead of letting the hard times break her, it made her stronger.

“The whole incident taught me to stop being such an easily ignitable fire, so easy to provoke and irritate.”
