The country’s growing middle class and appetite for original wears and accessories continues to attract luxury brands into the country, with more Kenyans embracing the luxury lifestyle.

Westgate Mall in Westlands area of Nairobi is now playing host to a new authorized distributor of world famous luxury sporting brands.

Sports Planet, operated by Salute Holdings, specialises in selling and servicing gym, camping and sports equipment and accessories as well as wears by famous brands including Adidas, Puma, Nike, Grays, Mitre, Spalding, Gilbert Bestway and Motion.

“Sports Planet is here to bridge the gap by providing world class training equipment, sportswear and gear as well as related accessories at competitive prices,” said the store supervisor Steve Mungo.

The new store targets enthusiasts of most world sports including football, golf, rugby, basketball, cricket, hockey and volleyball and is eyeing the country’s fast growing fascination with health, gym and sporting activities.

“We want to encourage Kenyans to keep fit and healthy as it is crucial to the country’s growth. It wouldn’t be nice to work long hours in helping the Nation grow but not healthy to do so for long. We have the gears necessary for exercise including attire and Gym equipment,” said Sports Planet brand manager Edwin Munene.

Speaking at the launch at Westgate Mall, former Kenyan Cricket captain Aasif Karim rooted for the opening of more sports stores across the country to boost sporting activities.

Salute Holdings Limited was incorporated in the country in August 1999 and started operating in March 2000 and has a regional presence in Tanzania, Rwanda and Uganda.
