League row forces Tusker to cancel key event

By DAVID KWALIMWA February 22nd, 2015 1 min read

The management of Tusker FC was last Friday forced to reschedule a key event involving the first team, in the wake of confusion brought about by the bickering between the country’s top football administrators.

Reputable sources indicate top management officials from both the club and its parent company, East Africa Breweries Limited (EABL), alongside the media were all set to be invited for the function, which was however called off at the last minute.

PARALLEL LEAGUES

“The cancellation (of this event) had something to do with the possibility of the country having parallel leagues. The fear was how the function would be played out in the media,” the source told Nairobi News.

Besides sponsoring the club, EABL are also the title sponsors of the Kenyan Premier League over a three year period to the tune of Sh 150 million.

Tusker drew 1-1 with Thika United in their season opening match of the 2015 KPL season on Saturday in Thika.
