Kubamba crew launches christian radio station

Kubamba TV have launched a new gospel radio station that will be airing urban Christian music targeting an audience among the youth.

Kubamba Radio, which started playing gospel music since April, officially launched on Friday with gospel singer Danco and Tina Nzuki as the presenters for the station, hosting the breakfast show.

Kubamba is under the K-Crew family consisting of Moses K Mathenge (DJ Moz), John Njuguna (Njugush), Gowi Odera, Oscar Arigi and Ashley Ndambu.

URBAN GOSPEL

Speaking to Nairobi News, Bob Wafula, the Programmes Controller, said the new radio station will seek to attract its youthful target audience by playing hip hop, rap gospel compared to other gospel radio stations who tend to air gospel music from other genres.

“Kubamba radio is bringing in something different and it will be strictly urban gospel. The frequency which is 91.6, is only available in Nairobi and its environs but plans are underway to reach other parts of the country,” said Mr Wafula.

Kubamba started in May 2000 when DJ Moz began a radio show called Kubamba on a Christian station. As he introduced Urban Contemporary Christian Music to the public, the popularity of the show increased.
