A Kenyan on Twitter has touched off a debate on whether an wristband made with the colours of the national flag is a symbol of impunity and corruption or patriotism.

The debate was kicked off by a tweep (@iDawa) who called it a starter pack for ‘tenderprenuers’.

Another even recommended that people should cut if off in protest.

The armband, made from beads, was popularized by the Jubilee administration.

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s cousin Kathleen Kihanya was spotted wearing the wristband during her weekend press conference, where she defended herself against claims of involvement in the Sh5 billion Afya House scam.

Interestingly, NYS scandal chief suspect Josephine Kabura’s lawyer F.I Omino also wore it during the stormy Tuesday session with the National Assembly’s Public Accounts Committee.
