Koinange Kenya’s choice to interview Obama

A majority of Kenyans on social media are proposing Jeff Koinange as the most suitable local based presenter to interview America President Barack Obama during his visit to the country in a few months time – should the opportunity arise.

This follows a heated debate on the matter both on Facebook and Twitter by hundreds of Kenyan television consumers since the Obama’s visit to Nairobi was announced by both the Kenyan and American Governments on Monday.

Koinange, a former CNN presenter who currently hosts a local TV show Jeff Koinange Live, appears strong favourite to land this role if a majority of Kenyans have their way, owing to his vast experience in the industry and the list of prominent personalities he has interviewed in the past.

“It has to be Jeff Koinange, he understands the American politics and culture much more than the rest of presenters available,” Gladys Awino opined on Facebook.

Other presenters proposed for the task are Julie Gichuru, NTV anchor and The Trend host Larry Madowo, Hussein Mohammed and Linda Ogutu.

Obama, whose father was Kenyan, will visit Kenya in July to participate in an international economic symposium in Nairobi.
