K’Ogalo paint city green

Gor Mahia fans poured on the streets of Nairobi in numbers on Sunday ahead of the match against KCB where they will be crowned 2013 premier league champions.

It was song and dance at the Tom Mboya statue from mid-morning as the green army delighted to the end of their 18 year wait for the title.

The joy in their faces was evident and will certainly replace the tears they shed during last year when the team failed to win the title in the last game against Thika United.

Donning the green and white colours, they sang and danced their team’s achievement, to the amusement of puzzled onlookers who merely watched from a distance.

“I am glad to be alive to witness this historic day. It is indeed a special occasion for the club and all its fans who have supported the team all through”, said George Jakadaddy who travelled from Kisumu.

Business men used the opportunity to cash in on sales, with various Kogalo merchandise on sale.

From t-shirts, umbrellas, mups and calendars, businessmen made a kill as fans rushed to own a piece of anything that will remind them of this historic day.

At the Tom Mboya statue, the ecstatic fans took photos as others paraded a dummy trophy.

They plan to sing and dance as they walk to the Moi Sports Center Kasarani. A number of after-parties have been line up to continue the celebrations after the trophy presentation.
