Klin K: How bar brawl almost ruined my music career


Kenyan rapper Collins Kioko, better known as Klin K, has gone public about a criminal case that rendered him out of the music industry for a year.

The rapper, who rose to fame two years ago with a dis song that hit out at Khaligraph Jones and Jay A, has narrated how a bar brawl saw him end up in jail.

The Kuna Wia singer, who is currently trying to retrace his steps in music, has recounted an incident mid last year when he got into a fight in a club during a night out but didn’t think much of it at the time.

“I went out as usual and ended up rubbing someone the wrong way so they confronted me and the confrontation turned violent, blows were exchanged,” Klin K narrated.

Little did he know that the person he fought with was from a wealthy family who would later press assault charges.

“Cops dragged me from class days after the altercation. I was shocked as I thought the incident ended at the club,” he says.

Days later, he was in remand awaiting his trial at the Kibera Law Courts. It was during this time that he was told that the sentence for assault charges is a 5 year jail term.

It is then that he started making efforts of reaching out the man who was pressing the charges.

“After a while of begging and negotiations, they agreed on a compromise to drop the case that led to my release,” the rapper says adding that had it not been God’s mercy he would currently be serving the five year jail term.

As a result, the rapper who says he has since quit drugs and all substance abuse, is back to recording. His first release is a song titled Let You Go.
