Chris Kirubi, Jimnah Mbaru now join Team Sonko

Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant Mike Sonko has added wealthy and influential city businessmen Jimnah Mbaru and Chris Kirubi to his line-up.

Sonko will relinquish his senatorial post in August, and is challenging Peter Kenneth for Jubilee Party’s ticket ahead of the general elections in August, a face-off that has attracted tension and public scrutiny.

Former Starehe legislator Bishop Margaret Wanjiru is the other candidate eyeing the Governorship on a Jubilee Party ticket.

And in a move he believes will help him govern the city better – if elected – Sonko announced over the weekend, via his official Facebook page that he will be bringing in the two respected businessmen on board.

RUNNING MATE

“I am and has always been a team player who will delegate, assign, appoint professionals to run the affairs of the county. To that effect, plans are underway to make investor Chris Kirubi as our county chief economic advisor,” read Sonko’s post.

Sonko also asked his followers on Facebook to chose whom between Mbaru and former Nairobi Council Town clerk John Gakuo could be his running mate.

Kenneth and Wanjiru alongside another gubernatorial aspirant Miguna Miguna are yet to name their running mates, whilst incumbent Dr Evans Kidero says he stick with Jonathan Mueke
