Kidnapping gang wait on court to review bail

A court will on Friday rule on whether it will review bail terms for ten people, among them a former administration police officer, accused of kidnapping 14 year old twins in Westlands.

Nairobi chief magistrate Kiarie Waweru made the orders after the prosecution said the information on the pre-bail reports submitted was scanty.

The accused had each been granted Sh2 million bond with two sureties of similar amount but some are now seeking for a review of the bond terms.

Defence lawyers urged the court to review the bail terms saying the accused are entitled to bond.

Last week, the court has granted the prosecution seven days to verify information on pre bail reports presented to court by a probation officer.

The accused are Joash Jagero a former AP,Geofrey Osumba,Fredrick Mbuta,Geofrey Muia,Clifford Okoth,Patrick Mwendwa,Francis Luseka,Mark Stevene,Gabriel Otema and Peter Njoroge.

They allegedly on October 3 this year, jointly with others not before court kidnapped the minors at Brookside along Grivellia groove in Westlands area Nairobi.

The magistrate had earlier said that verification of bond documents will be done once the issue of bond terms reviews is concluded.
