Kidero’s deputy claims Jubilee behind impeachment bid
Nairobi Deputy Governor Jonathan Mueke has pointed an accusing finger at the Jubilee government for being the bid to impeach Governor Evans Kidero.
He also announced that he will resign in solidarity with the governor if the motion succeeds.
In an interview with Nairobi News, Mr Mueke said the motion of impeachment is malicious and had come at a time when ‘the politics of Nairobi is unfavourable any candidate from the Jubilee Party.’
“We all know and it is not a secret that every week Jubilee has tried to bring a (Nairobi governor) candidate. They are now eight or nine, every person they bring the mwananchi rejects saying they are not good enough because Kidero and Mueke have done enough.
“Now the strategy seems to have changed and they are using unorthodox method to remove him,” claimed Mr Mueke.
Mr Mueke linked the motion of impeachment to Governor Kidero’s recent demand for Sh67 billion owed to the county government by the national government in outstanding land rates and parking fees.
He said the grounds for the impeachment motion, including claims of incurring a Sh42 billion debt, had already been cleared by oversight committee at the senate.
He also defended the chaotic behaviour of Cord MCA’s in the county assembly on Tuesday, explaining that they were passionate about their governor.
